March Updates

Dear artist friends,

The Board of Directors are pleased to announce that applications for the new Member Grant Program are now open. The Member Grant Program offers up to two grants of up to $500 each per year to HGC members to aid in the development and growth of their craft. Possible uses for grants include classes, tools, booth display items, filing for an LLC, attending a conference, etc.

Applications for the Member Grant Program will include an artist statement; the amount requested; a statement of how the grant will be use and how it would benefit the artist’s craft and/or business; and photos of the artist’s work. Criteria for awarding grants include a complete application based on the criteria outlined in the application materials; seriousness of the request, i.e. the grant cannot be spent frivolously; the artist’s activity level within the Guild; whether the requestor has previously received a grant, i.e. all other factors being equal, first-time applicants will be given preference over artists who have previously received a grant. Applications will be reviewed by the Board members and voted on during Board meetings. Votes will be recorded in the minutes of the meeting in order to maintain transparency.

If you would like to apply for a grant, gather the information detailed above and go to https://forms.gle/EhgJZJmXSVamytJK6. Please note specific criteria regarding participation and length of membership on this page. Applications will be accepted until April 30. The Board will review applications in May and make public announcement of grantees in June. We look forward to seeing what you have in store to improve yourself and your craft!

One final bit of good news: The Board has identified our first co-chair to coordinate our 2027 Holiday Show. We are still looking for one additional co-chair so that the task of running the show can be shared to make the work lighter. If you would like to volunteer for this role, or if you have questions about the role of (co)chair, please send an e-mail to haverfordguild@gmail.com.

Cheers,
Brian Middleton, President
