October Updates

Dear artist friends,

This month’s message is brief but exciting. I encourage you to make time for the HGC general meeting this Wednesday at 7 p.m. on Zoom. Our guest speaker this month is an amazing artist who also happens to be a successful businesswoman.

Sarah Rafferty (atwaterdesigns.com) uses a technique called cyanotype to create stunning blue botanical prints. Cyanotype is a cameraless photographic process that produces a cyan blue print as a result of exposure to UV light. It has been in use since 1842, and continues to produce beautiful natural imagery today. Sarah uses this process to create delicate prints of wildflowers, grasses and other plants, both cultivated and wild.

In addition to her artistic sensibility, Sarah is also an adept businesswoman who employs marketing strategies, master mind groups, and community to bolster her artistic business. Sarah will be speaking with us about preparing for holiday markets. You don’t want to miss this opportunity to engage with a smart and savvy artist. We’ll see you Wednesday on Zoom. Meeting details are here.

I also look forward to seeing many of you at the HGC Holiday Art and Fine Craft Show at the Haverford CREC on November 8 and 9. Best wishes to everyone for a successful holiday show season and delightful holidays!
