About Me
I am a lifelong resident in Haverford Township. I earned a Bachelor of Music Education from Immaculata University, and did post graduate work at Temple University. I taught classroom music for 40 years and also held an Administrative post – as Middle School Director. Along the way, I married my husband, Bob and we had three children who are all now adults providing me with 5 (at last count) lovely grandchildren. I was always part of a craft group or attending a class to learn how to create new things, from knitting and crocheting to painting and woodworking. In the year 2005, I began making jewelry with my good friends, and we started a business called “Beauty and the Beads.” I am still part of that business. About 7 years, I began to specialize in Kumihimo braiding – a technique which was done originally by the Japanese Samarai warriors. I am a member of theAmerican Kumihimo Society and have taken courses with the most famous Japanese American Kumihimo master, Makiko Tada. Kumihimo has been well received by my customers. I have become proficient using the Marudai and portable disk when braiding. There are over 400 published Kumihimo patterns at this point and I am constantly working to build my portfolio of patterns.”
